Stephen Donald has introduced the Carl Zeiss Visufit 1000 complete Spectacle Dispensing System
So what’s new?
We are investing in our customer experience in a big way in 2020 by introducing the Carl Zeiss Visufit 1000. It’s a complete Spectacle Dispensing System in our practice.
The VISUFIT 1000 is a digital 3D centration platform that offers our patients highly accurate 3D centration. It’s also a more memorable and pleasant experience when they are shopping for new eyewear.
This new technology is fantastic. For the first time, our customers can see themselves in 3D wearing their new spectacles. They can also see what impact their new Carl Zeiss lenses, tints or coatings will have on their look.
Older cameras photographed 7 points of reference, but this new kit uses 9 cameras. That produces 2.5 million points of reference. This means we can take your facial measurements perfectly. That increases our chances of getting the best match to improve our patient’s vision.
We’re offering this to everyone as a standard measuring tool now. Currently, there are only 5 of these in the country (at the time of publishing). None of them is within 100 miles of us here at Stephen Donald Eyewear, so we hope our customers appreciate that and take advantage of it.

What is the problem that this is solving for our customers
Customers often try on more than 10 different frames in a single visit to the store. At Stephen Donald Eyewear we already have a wide variety of frames for our customers to choose from.
The VISUFIT1000 will allow them to try on the frames and lenses in a virtual environment and more accurately help them to make their perfect choice.
In the future, manufactures are planning to download their frame designs into the system. That will mean that people can try on everything they make in every colour on a 3D avatar. We are looking forward to that because it also means that if we don’t have what you want in stock, we can get it for our customers regardless.
With previous methods for measuring frames, it was possible to make small mistakes which could harm the final results and comfort for the patients. If we are inaccurate when we’re measuring frames it can lead to a 40% reduction in the optical performance of a lens too.
The VISUFIT 1000 will change all of that for us.
Making fewer mistakes is good for everybody. Testing showed that 69% of patients who use this digital equipment return to practices as a result. This was a factor in our decision to bring you this technology.
The VISUFIT 1000 will provide our customers with:
- Higher Accuracy because 3D centration is done by using 9 mutually calibrated cameras that give you a complete 180° view in a single shot. So no more frame calibrating snaps that can make patients feel uncomfortable and alter their natural posture.
- Highly reliable data, which is due to a laser speck.
- A right and left back vertex distance determination, which provides an unprecedented level of accuracy in the calculation of the lens design, taking individual wear parameters into account.
Conclusion
This is going to be a great addition to Stephen Donald Eyewear and to the level of service that we can provide to our customers.
The customisation and flexibility of the equipment mean that if a patient chooses a frame with thick temples (for example) we can use an overlay function to help to detect the position of the cornea and determine the back vertex distance with no trouble.
Ultimately our customers will be able to see what the different frames will look in a 180° view with an unlimited frame comparison. It’s a great solution, particularly for patients with high prescriptions.
Utilising a feature allowing Lens simulation in the frame, patients can now even select the right lens, coating or tint for their chosen frames too, displayed together allowing them to see everything in one place.
We consider this a win-win and worthwhile investment in our patients as well as our business. Our patients are left with a fantastic buying experience as there is no better way to convince them of the benefits of the ZEISS lens and coating range and we are left with happy customers who are happy to both spread the word about our services and also remain with us as lifetime customers.
